Volunteer

What can a smile do for someone facing a life threatening illness?

Can a few hours a week really make a difference for someone who is grieving the loss of a loved one? Can one person make a difference? Yes, they can!

Hospice of London volunteers are special people who share their time, give their energy and journey with our clients to enhance quality of life for those facing a life threatening illness or grieving the loss of a loved one. From visiting palliative clients to providing administrative support, our volunteers play an integral role in the day to day operations of Hospice of London.

We offer numerous opportunities for you to join our incredible team of skilled and dedicated volunteers. If you are interested in learning more about volunteering at Hospice of London, please contact Carla McDonald, 519-438-2102, ext. 223. Volunteer training is held periodically, please click events for more information.

Volunteer Visitors

Our volunteer visitor program is Hospice of London’s cornerstone support initiative. Volunteers receive palliative and bereavement support training and are matched with a client. Volunteer visitors offer comfort and companionship to palliative and bereaved clients, their caregivers and families.

Volunteer Drivers

Our drivers provide free transportation for clients to day program appointments at the Home for Hospice, as well as to medical appointments and shopping.

Complementary Therapists

Our volunteer complementary therapists are certified professionals who provide our palliative and bereaved clients with pain relief, comfort and relaxation. Some of the therapies offered are Massage, Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, Healing Touch, Integrated Energy, Reflexology, Aroma therapy and Music therapy.

Home for Hospice Greeter

Volunteers may assist with greeting and supporting clients who participate in daily activities in the Home for Hospice.

Home for Hospice Support Volunteers

Volunteers may assist with gardening, indoor & outdoor maintenance, arts & crafts and food service.

Administrative Support

Administrative volunteers assist with front desk reception and telephone work, as well as assistance with mailings, filing and general office work.

Hospice of London relies on the talent and compassion of our volunteers to help enrich the lives of our clients. Call and learn how you can make a difference.
